Makeney Hall is situated just off the A6 between Belper and Derby, this is a very old favourite wedding venue of mine and I’ve been visiting for over 30 years.
The gardens within this Victorian Country Mansion are very nice and always well kept, its a great place for some wedding photography. My new favourite place is the newly opened outdoor woodland wedding ceremony area which opened in 2016.

About Makeney Hall
Makeney Hall is set in six acres of landscaped and manicured gardens, with views across the Amber Valley towards Duffield and the River Derwent. The house itself is a Victorian Country Mansion, over the years it has changed hands a few times with various management buy-outs and take overs, however its main focus has always been providing a fantastic service for weddings.
The hotel holds a civil ceremony licence which allows Makeney Hall to hold your wedding across a couple of suites. In 2016 Makeney Hall opened their new outdoor wedding ceremony area that sets such a beautiful scene for your special day.
If you have booked your wedding at Makeney Hall and you are considering using Merv Spencer as your wedding photographers on your wedding day, then make sure you get in touch to discuss an engagement photoshoot within the grounds of Makeney Hall.
